Alpine Fireworks

The 4th of July is generally a crowded day no matter where you go. Everyone flocks to the streets and fields to gaze up at the stars or to light a firecracker in their front yard. There are shows and concerts and all sorts of activities happening in celebration of Independence day.

So instead of hitting the crowds, we decided to hit the dirt and made way with our heavy backpacks to Mount St. Helens where with what little planning I decided it would be an easy 6 mile trek in and out. Turns out we walked uphill for roughly 10 miles to get to our camp ground. but it was all worth it in the end. We met no signs of civilization on the trail even at our 1mile/hour pace. It was the mountains and us.
